How many times have you heard that before?
It’s part of the damaging rhetoric which leaves us, as black women, in an ongoing battle with our hair – an all-consuming quest for “‘perfect hair”.
A cycle that becomes stressful, can be a financial drain and may even leave us with emotional damage.

When I became a mum, I knew it was time for drastic change. Not only did I have less time, I was now more focused than ever on ensuring my hair was healthy. So I began my journey to hair health to truly understand:
- Why afro textured hair poses so many challenges for us as black women?
- Why so many of us feel our hair reaches a point where it seems to stop growing?
- Why we seem to spend so much on products that don’t deliver?
- Why the black hair industry thrives whilst we as customers, don’t seem to benefit from healthier hair?
My journey took me to every corner of the black hair industry. Not only did I learn so much, I also formed amazing partnerships along the way with award-winning black hairdressers, celebrity stylists, product manufacturers and more.
And soon, The Black Hair Mastery Platform was born. The Black Hair Mastery Platform is an online space for women of black and mixed race heritage to truly understand how to care for their hair.
